Split coronas

Strangely enough, I have had 3 of the self-sown seedling narcissi in the plunge flowering with split coronas this year.

Not to worry about the pic size, Anne, it's close enough! About 600 wide by 800 high is great, for future reference!
I wonder what it is about the weather... and I am sure it WILL BE about the weather, that has made these young narcissus split their flowers this year? None of the "grown-up" pots of bulbs have shown this so far, only youngsters. Most odd.

Anne,
The narcissus I showed with the split corona are flowering for about the third year and have not exhibited this feature before. I suspect that it may be cultural but obviously some forms are genetically more inclined to manifest this mutation. The unusual weather we have all been subjected to has caused all sorts of anomalies perhaps this is one.
If my plant does it again next year then it is out as I do not find it attractive.
