You may well be correct, but isn't it spelled 'karroo'?
Almost in Scotland.

......... but isn't it spelled 'karroo'?

From Kew :   " It is named after the Karoo region of the former Cape Province of South Africa"

From http://www.plantzafrica.com/plantab/acaciakar.htm :

"The name Acacia is derived from Greek "akis" a point or barb. Karroo is one of the old spellings of karoo which cannot be corrected because of the laws governing botanical nomenclature (giving of names)."

I don't much trust eBay but you appear to be able to buy the seeds through this vendor: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quick-and-Easy-Indoor-Bonsai-Trees-From-Seed-Acacia-/310767156942
Almost in Scotland.
