Unauthorised photo use
« on: March 11, 2014, 03:29:11 PM »
Someone trading under the name "Arvensis" on the Swedish ebay site Tradera is using, without permission, photos from the Bulb Log to sell his plants.

It is hard to make contact without being a registered Tradera member and this seems difficult from the UK because of the required fields for registration.

I believe this person's real name might be Jan Nilsson and he seems to live in Uppsala. If anyone can confirm the identity of this person and supply us with  his email and/or postal address, we would be most grateful.

You can always go to the Tradera site direct. Or to the advertisers on it.

images.google.com

can be helpful - search for images (based on content), will find where your images are in use on the web.

At least it sounds like the Tradera site will take action - Translated from the Tradera site (Google Chrome automatically does the translation):

Why has eBay with this policy?
eBay encourages all members to follow national laws and regulations. The use of images without permission means that the seller infringes another's copyright, and thus breaks the Traderas rules and against the law. upon violation of this policy Violation of this policy or its related guidelines may lead to action being taken against your ad and / or your eBay- account."

You can contact them (Tradera) at this phone number:  Sweden 0771-392 000 between 8:00 and 22:00.

The sites also clearly states that you are not allowed to use others pictures without permission.

Maggi

There is a forum there http://kundservice.tradera.com/org/tradera/  which you can post on so that could be a solution

The other way is to contact the UK eBay team and tell them as this is the users profile http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/arvensis and give all the links for each item and let them contact the Swedish site or you could contact the seller directly using this profile.  I have used the UK team to deal with an issue with German user using one of my photos and the listing was removed.

Thank you Neil - but the German 'arvensis' is not the same person as the Swedish 'Arvensis' : http://www.tradera.com/finding.mvc/itemlisting?ftgnr=848671

And I still think one needs to be a Tradera member to post - happily a Swedish friend  and how lovely it is to have so many nice Swedish friends!) has found the direct route to Tradera for me.

Thank you!
