Just heard from the North Lancs committee and can hint that there are likely to be major changes to the 'Blackpool' show. I'm sure the show secretary will provide full details once things are finalised.

Perhaps interesting news for the Scots or those from North East England is that the show secretary is apparently in negotiations with a new venue near the M6 and further north in South Cumbria......

Alan Oatway (the new Show Secretary) has given me permission to let you know that the new venue for the show formerly held in Blackpool will be:

Kirkbie Kendal School in Lound Road, Kendal, Cumbria. Postcode :LA9 7EQ

The date remains the same.

I have already heard a lot of positive feedback about this move, being much nearer to the M6 especially. Alan is taking over from Lionel Clarkson and it would be wonderful if as many of us as possible could support this, his first, show.

Kendal is ideally located for those wishing to have a weekend in the Lake District, the town centre has lots of nice places to eat too without traveling too far from the venue (it could be walked by most folk quite easily).

I'm sure more official info will be forthcoming soon.

Lionel Clarkson has done sterling service as Show Secretary for  many years and I am sure we all appreciate that and wish him well in his retirement  from the post.  :-*

Alan Oatway will surely find a lot of support  in his new post - the show community will be delighted to know the show is set for a new incarnation in Kendal.  8)

Please note that the date of the Edinburgh SRGC Show 2014  has been changed  to 12th April.

This change will avoid a clash with  the 75th Anniversary  Ulster AGS Show  at Greenmount Agricultural and Horticultural College, Muckamore, Co. Antrim, BT41 4PU where there is  also a  Joint Rock committee Meeting.

There is no SRGC Show but the committee meets to consider rock plants submitted from the various exhibitors at the event. I believe plants may be submitted by others too - it's just that the plants are not being taken to the committee from the show bench, as usually happens.

From 'Confused of Frodsham'.
As Clare and I are thinking of visiting the Glasgow show for the first time, may I assume that the following classes are what I would refer to as 'minigardens'?
Not having a clue as to the precise definitions asked for is losing me a lot of sleep!!!!! ??? Not! ;D ;D
