Amaryllids SA-Trip in April
« on: July 10, 2013, 01:54:00 PM »
Hi Forum,

the first 2 weeks of april i made a trip to South Africa.
Started in Cape Town, from there up to Steinkopf in northern Namaqualand and then to the Drakensberge north of Lesotho.
We were perfectly happy to see a lot of amaryllids in flower, especialle my loved Haemanthus.
Here are some photos of flowering Haemanthus and Brunsvigia

-Brunsvigia marginata

-Brunsvigia orientalis

-Brunsvigia ??? (striata?) any ideas?

-Haemanthus coccineus

-Haemanthus pubescens ssp. pubescens small form

Absolutely marvellous Bernie, thanks for sharing them with us.  They are all wonderful especially the Boophane haemanthoides leaves and the stunning Haemanthus crispus clump.

I am green with envy!  I have never managed to be there when the Haemanthus were flowering.
