Schizocodon soldanelloides
« on: March 03, 2013, 03:47:55 PM »
I have bought some Schizocodon soldanelloides var. magnus seed from Goteborg. Any advice on sowing welcome.
I understand sowing on sphagnum moss is used. Should this be live or dead or does it not matter? How about mixing with perlite, which I use for Darlingtonia to save on moss, which is scarce in this area? Would adding some peat of peat based compost be a positive or negative addition?
I have read some of the older forum comments on Shortia/Schizocodon but most are about seedlings onward. Hopefully that will be relevant later.
The Shortia I have growing in a large pot seems to be going backwards after several years, good growth. Time for a rethink.
