Hi there, just wondering if anyone knows where i can get a Tacca (bat plant) from for my girlfriends christmas present.
Thanks Dan

Dan where are you based

http://www.easytropicals.com/pcp/Other_Exotics.html have two species for pre-ordering for April 2007... rather a long wait for a christmas present! The EasyTropicals nursery is in Cheshire, I think.
Dan's in Preston, if I remember right.

Hi Mark and Maggi.
I am based in Preston in the north west uk. I dont think my girlfriend will wait till Then Maggi. Its the first time i have not left it to christmas eve!

Dan, I'm going to make a suggestion, you may act on it as you wish... take a look at this website:
www.gemstv.co.uk if you can't find something there that is just as good as a Tacca plant and longer lasting, too, I'll be surprised. I take the liberty of making this comment because I'm female and I like glittery things, perhaps your girlfriend might not... but then again......... ;)

Thanks for the advice Maggi. If i got my girlfriend anything like that she would kick me out. Is that a hint to your better half. Many thanks

Dan I used to work in a garden centre where we sold Taccas. They were very iffy and didnt last very long. I didnt see a brilliant plant at the Eden Project but cant find my photos

Thanks for the reply Mark. A few people have said that about them. Im getting desperate for one or a stags horn fern. I have seen a few stags horn ferns for sale but not near me.

Hello Dan
I presume you have used the RHS online plant search already ( http://www.turn-it-tropical.co.uk/ ) - if not here are the nurseries that have had it Tacca this year:

http://www.bressinghamgardens.com/
http://www.choicelandscapes.org/
http://www.crosscommonnursery.co.uk/
Hope this helps. You have only got 18 days and 5 hours left to sort it out mate!
cheers
