Hi,
Is it permissable to send a copy of the application form? For me the easy thing is to scan the application form into my DTP program, overlay text frames on the boxes to fill in, and then print the whole lot out, giving a neat result.
But I notice the back of the form has some sort of grid device printed on it. Can't guarantee getting that in precisely the right place.

David, has your paper copy not arrived yet?
Unless, and until, we get online seed ordering, the seedlist is primarily online to let folks see what could be available to them, as members, and to let those of us who lose our paper copy, before the seed arrives, check what it is we have got!
I will check with "them as knows" these things and let you know if there is an easy remedy.

Hi. David, Sorry for delay, got distracted by a phone call! Those grids on the reverse of the application pages are merely there to stop you writing anything important in that space, because the corresponding space on the front of those pages is where your name and address will be written and cut out to be used to stick on your seed envelope when it is sent to you. So, easy solution after all!

Yes I have my paper copy of the seedlist - I see that I've posted to the wrong thread, causing confusion.
Reading it made me think of another question. Why do some plants get repeated names e.g.
cyclamen coum coum coum
or clematis montana montana
what does the reptition signify?

Hi, David, It was I who became confused! I thought you did not have the paper copy and thus wanted to print out a version... not realising that you meant to scan/photograph the pages to make neat and legible job of filling in form before printig it off.
As to the repetition, Clematis montana montana refers to Clematis montana ssp.montana, but I am at a loss to explain the other multiples.... unless they mean similar things, xxxx ssp. yyyy var. yyy etc.

Maggi is correct in what she says above.
When a species, such as Cyclamen coum, is further split into subspecies then to be taxonomically correct when referring to the type species we should call it Cyclamen coum ssp coum. It gets more confusing when varieties are added then we need Cyclamen coum ssp coum var coum. In that situation Cyclamen coum is an umbrella name for them all and if it is the type species we are referring to then we need Cyclamen coum ssp coum var coum - confused?
It is not strictly necessary and as a gardener I prefer the more descriptive listings of Cyclamen coum silver leaf, etc.

I had posted a message on the old forum regarding my inability to cut and paste the seed list to an excel file which I could then use as a starting point to capture more specific information such as hardiness, height,.... With respect to last year's list the pasted text was undecypherable. I just wanted to let you know that with the 2006/07 list I was able to cut and paste the information reasonably successfully. The information in the columns gets a bit mixed up, since the cut pulls the information off row by row but it's less time consuming to format the pasted data than reenter all the text with the added risk of introducing spelling errors.

Hello, Rob,,, tell me more, I am not able to cut and paste from a pdf file, I think this is because I only have the Adobe reader, not the full version. Is this why you can cut and paste ?

Hi Ian
you should be able to cut from a PDF even when using just the reader. It is highlighting the test that is the different step and often leads users to believe it is not possible.
You should find an icon on the toolbar called "select" - this has an 'I' with a little triangle next to it. Click this icon and then use your mouse to select the parts of the PDF you want to copy and then follow your usual method (CTRL+C, CTRL+V).
Hope this works for you (if not, try downloading a newer version of adobe acrobat from their website).

John's got it right for adbode v7. I think in the older versions there is a dotted box with a T in it that you select, then highlight the text you want to copy. Use the CTL-C to copy, the CTL-V to paste. It worked that way on version at least as far back as v5 that I can remember and that's just with the reader.

Thanks, chaps, I have been having a look-see and I find your are quite correct. On left-clicking and holding down, on the T tool, a drop down box appears which offers choice of text/ colum/ or graphic selection. Can't imagine how we never found this before! Good that we old dogs can learn new tricks, though, isn't it!!

Hi, Mark, sorry for delay in replying, I was out working and when I came back the pc crashed halfway through my reply! Fingers crossed this time.
All donors and overseas members are sent the seedlist automatically. Other Home members should, ideally, request a list by mail or email to Stuart Pawley by early November (That is when the list is ready) The last date for requesting a list is December 14th, so you need to be quick now!
Too late to mail Stuart your request now, so I suggest email : gsp.srgc@tesco.net
Had you made a postal request in time you were asked to send a stamped C5 size (24cm x 17.5cm) self-addressed envelope to Stuart Pawley, Acres of Keillour, Methven, Perth PH1 3RA.

A few notes to clarify, for anyone else in Marks' position:
The time frames for the Seed exchange are pretty tight. Stuart needed the seed, or a list of the seed you intend to send , BY the 31st of October AT THE VERY LATEST.
Non-donor Home Members wishing a seedlist are advised to apply as soon as possible, I would suggest late October early November! Final date for asking for seedlist: 14th December.
USA Members should be aware or their USDA APHIS regulations re seed imports and comply with those. There are details on another thread here, to help you.
TO EVERYONE: : PLEASE READ THE NOTES IN THE YEARBOOK, AND SEEDLIST CAREFULLY BEFORE ORDERING.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DEADLINE FOR ALL SEED APPLICATIONS IS 7TH JANUARY 2007.

I've got a small seed ex problem: no paper copy...and no order form in the online list. I'd like to post my request but need direction under these circumstances...
