Take care of the terrible ' Crocus nightmare ' :o ;D

More great shots Fred !!
Now we know where Mr Huber has been hiding !
It took the Maritime Alps to make him leave his crocus lawn behind !
-
Looks as though it will not be long before young Chris is as tall as his Dad.
-
Fred these are super photos in particularly the last series of C. versicolor.
Thank you for showing.

-
Yes, many more but I think it's enough with this species :)
FRED - How can you??? It can never be enough with this species!!! 8)
Many thanks for opening this thread. I hope to contribute some more photos
if my job allows me to sort out my photo collection in the next days.
-
Beautiful plants, sunny weather, happy faces... Fred, thank you for wonderful pictures!
-
Fantastic photos, I love the velvet purples of the Iris chamaeiris group and the shape and delicacy of the crocus in that light is just amazing :)
-
Finally I found the time to sort out my photos so here some more impressions from the Southern Alps:
00 - Helleborus foeditus South of Grenoble
01 - The impressive rocks of Sisteron right beneath the Route de Napoleon
02 - First Crocus we found on the way down South was a good white form near Digne-les-Bains
03 - Plenty of albino forms seem to grow in this area, we also saw many white Hepatica's
04 - Can anybody tell me what this is? Looks like little black corms but doesn't smell like :-X
05 - Another batch of white versicolor from the same area, flowering right after the snow melt.
06 - Sometimes they were mixed with Eranthis hyemalis - what a pity that the sun didn't shine :-[
-
Very nice pictures Thomas !!
I'm very happy to see Crocus with Eranthis :o never seen them before !
But, as I remember, you took more than 1000 pics .... only 6 to show us ?? ???
-
wonderful photos!
oh... white hepatica.. oh.... :o
the photo n. 4--- maybe some animal passed by? a rabbit? ;D ::)
-
Beautiful show Thomas ! Makes a change from your Crocusmeadow doesn't it ? ;D ;)
I do hope you will show us more !
-
The Forum photo upload folder is full at the moment and will need some assistance from Fred Admin..... please be patient and we will be able to enjoy Thomas' photos.... and many others, agian soon. :)
-
Fred, it was only on one location that we found several Eranthis spots.
Of course I have more than 6 photos to show 8)
I'm hoping, Fred will soon give us more space for the upload folder!
Madi - I'm also for rabbit ;D
-
Spending the night in Grasse, Chris and I met Fred the next day to climb on Pic de Courmettes,
where we had a wonderful sight to the Cote d'Azur and the snowcovered Alpes Maritimes in the back.
00 - Fred and Chris on the peak
01 - Fred leaving us to early due to a date
02 - Chris having after-lunch sleep
03 - This versicolor habitat can also be held for Crocus cambessedesii on Mallorca,
looking exactly like I've seen them in October last year
04 - Climbing down from the peak
05 - Artificial rock art in the backcountry of Nice
06 - Crocus versicolor between the rock art
-
3rd day of our journey was the best for crocus I've ever spent on any holiday.
In the backcountry of Grasse we found thousands of Crocus versicolor in flower
plus Colchicum (Bulbocodium) vernum and lots of fun with our friends:
00-02 - Crocus versicolor in 1000m altitude
03 - Chris, Fred, Mercedes (NOT Mrs Bulbi!) and the little Bulbi's Mathieu and Remy exploring caves
04-05 - Broad petaled Colchicum vernum - looking different from the trade form I already have
06 - Fred photographing on the Crocus field and his kids having fun
07 - Mathieu, Remy and Chris
08 - Remy and Fred doing snowball fight with the last snow
09 - Our group: Martine (Mrs Bulbi), Mercedes, Mercedes' husband Ditmar, Remy, Mathieu, Fred and Chris
-
Great Thomas ;D ;)
Nice souvenirs :P do do again :)
-
Fred, I hope I wrote the names of your family members correct !?
11 - a nearly white Crocus versicolor
12 - and a very dark form
14 - Fred photographing Narcissus
00 - Next day we started from Grasse to Italy and made a stop for breakfast on the beach in Nice
01 - We choose the upper Corniche from Nice to Menton, the middle and the lower Corniche can be seen from above in this photo
03 - After arriving in Italy we made a short trip to Dolceacqua with its famous bridge and castle
01 - I still didn't find out the name of this beautiful village, seen North of Monte Grammondo
02 - Crocus vernus ssp albiflorus in the Roya Valley
04 - Can you imagine, who is wearing this panty ;D
00 - Typical Ligurian village in the backcountry of Dolceacqua
-
Not the same date, but the same place, last year, begining of May, Erodium rodiei, endemic and large flowers !

Fabulous pictures Thomas and Fred!!
I have an aunt who lives in Nice - must arrange to visit. (Thomas, you know it is only the Easter dates that have stopped me so far.)
