the flower is little approximately 2 cm in diameter

Alessandro,
Never even heard of the genus before, let alone seen a pic of it. Thanks very much for sharing!!
-
Alessandro,
most interesting species -
and much better than Korsakoff's Syndrome - hiccup! ;D
Gerd

Gerd,
You just had to put that in there didn't you, knowing that we of enquiring mind would then just HAVE to go and look up Korsakoff's Syndrome to find out what it was. ::) Can't find any reference to Hiccups though in the wikipedia entry at least (OK, I'm not THAT dedicated and I didn't look any further than that). ;D

Paul
I do not know very of this species, I know that it comes from the Peru.

Paul,
Sorry for the ' hiccup ' - maybe not translated in the sense as it is used in Germany.
People used to say ' hicks ' after drinking too much alcohol.
Being married with a nurse ' Korsakoff ' (or the warning to develope it) is well known for me. I didn't realise that it could be less known to others.
Making jokes in another language than the own one could be difficult.

Gerd,
I knew you were joking, but even then I just HAD to go and work out what you were talking about. ;D I thought the Hiccup was related to the disease, not that you were drinking (Yes, we use the "hick"after drinking too much alcohol too).
I can only imagine how much worse MY jokes would be if I had to put them in another language! :o

Alessandro,
Thank you for the information. It looks like a very nice plant. I had wondered about the resemblance to the Eucharis and Calostemma (to a certain degree), so it is interesting to see the comparisons to Eucharis made in that link. One to look out for I think, although I doubt it would be in Australia. So nice to see something new and interesting. Thanks.

I can say that if interests to you it finds also in Australia, I cannot guarantee that or the same plant, but is found

Thanks Alessandro. Nice to know it is here already.

Hi all in this thread,
I can promise you all that this species of Caliphruria korsakoffi is a real lovely plant, not so big, easy to grow and I have two mature plants of them and both have been in bloom for me this year!
And for me is this one of the most "longflowering species of all" both my korsakoffis had flowers for more than a month.
And this species is not expensive to buy in USA it cost approx. 15 USD + shipping and in Europe you can obtain this species for approx. 4 Euro + shipping
And what I know does this species belong to Urceolina/Eucharis genus?
Best regards

Eucharis of sure, Urceolina I would not know

Here is flowering my Caliphruria too :
-
Nice, Hans. Elegant flower, isn't it? 8)
-
Paul ,
have you read my last PM to you about Caliphrurua ?
-
Hans,
No, I'd missed that one. have responded now.
-
Here is flowering my Caliphruria too :
Hans,
beautiful, what is? caliphruria subdentata?
-
Alessandro :
I have it bought as Cali. korsakofffii ( from Denmark ) .....why do you think the name is wrong ?
it is confusing ::)
-
Dear Hans, I am sorry for you but Alessandro is right, your is not korsakoffii, at least.
The main difference between them is above all the lenght of perianth (more than 2 cm in subedentata, less than 2 cm in korsakoffii) and the lenght of tube ( 9 mm or more in subedentata, less than 9 mm in korsakoffii).
If you had not subedentata, now you have! But you have to look for a source for the real korsakoffii. I'll see what I can do for you! ;)

Ciao Alberto ,

OK - have to wrote a new label and to search again :-\
Thank you also Alessandro !

I have looked again with a scale :
the length of the perianth is by my plant : 35 mm :o

Hans
could be be a matter of an other sp.di Caliphruria? if it were it would not be then disagreeable :P
-
Alessandro :

-
What a beauty! :o I didn't knew it existed.
Thank you Alessandro for sharing with us.
