Title: Nerines

I have found to pre-packed Nerines, one called 'Stephanie', a soft, shell pink and an unnamed red, presumedly a sarniensis hybrid.  Any hints on potting soild, general care, etc.?

Jamie,

I grow 'Stephanie' in pots. Soil is 2 parts gravel, 2 parts loam and 1 part leaf compost. Nerines flowers best when the bulbs are close together and placed half above soil.
I had few flowers last year.

I think I will try a mix off 50% pumice gravel mixed with potting compost and leaf mould, possibly a bit of sand to keep it loose enough.  Seems that too wet a compost is to be avoided.  Are yours in plastic or clay pots?  I was tending to clay as, probably similar in Denmark, we are quite wet in Cologne.

I use clay pots. But I have several nerines in open garden, and even if it rains a lot in Denmark I have never had moisture problems.
Maybe I just have been lucky.
