Title: Primulas from the Alpine House 2009
Post by: Mark Griffiths on March 07, 2009, 04:52:12 PM
When I tried to post into the previous Alpine House thread it warned it was an old one and suggested i start a new one. Hope that is ok, let me know if it is not and you want me to post as much as possible into the relevant old thread?

Ok, on with the plants. A few varieties of Primula allionii.

Primula allionii "Flute", I really like the form of this one.

Primula allionii "Anne" a bit Dionsyia like.

Primula allionii "Marion" Ditto

Primula allionii "Eureka"

Primula allionii "Lacewing"

Both  'Flute' and 'Eureka' are new to me, Mark, very nice. We don't see so many varieties here in the frozen north!!

Apart from 'Anne' all these forms were new to me. You grow them well Mark, and nice to see you back posting here.

Maggi, perhaps these should be with the Primula thread for continuity?

Thanks, sorry I missed the Primulas posts.

Most have been with me since the early 90s..some years of neglect as my life went through a few twists and turns. They took a beating while lodged with my father over one winter..he decided to save money on heating for his geraniums but insulating with plastic..the plants then spent months in what was more of less a giant plastic bag. As I result chunks of cushions died but most sprouted from the base. Now a number are small cushions with thick branches protrouding with a rosette or two on the end. I've been using them for cutting material bit by bit.

I also grew a few from my own seed and they were suprisingly good..definately not worth naming but they are quite nice.

Mark, would you like to have this thread moved to the Primula section or do you intend posting a variety of plants from your alpine house????

Hi, yes I was going to put up a few other postings from the alpine house..but I doubt it would sustain a thread..apart from the primulas and bulbs I don't have much else...so perhaps move these for now?
