Title: Gaultheria pyroloides
Post by: Rodger Whitlock on December 07, 2008, 12:44:24 AM
I grew a nice plant of this from seed, it won a prize at our local RG show, and then became that year's victim of my private "August fail to water" behavior. I seem to lose one moisture-loving plant that way every August! <grrrrrrr>

I'd like to grow it again, but it's in none of this year's seedlists (AGS, SRGC, AGCBC). Can anyone help?

No seed, Rodger, but cutting material could be sent .... not a good time of year for that though!

Does anyone have seed germination advice for Gaultheria pyroloides?

Thank you

I do all Ericaceae including Gaultheria over grit over usual seed/potting mix. I do Shortias, Ramondas and like things the same way. It works for me and germination happens before moss and liverwort take over, as it does, if I use the boiling water over spaghnum method, or any other way. But my climate is very different from yours Rimmer.

Thank you Leslie.

I was informed to try in a covered deli dish on peaty soil with high humidity.
