Another little bulb and little starry white flowers: Vagaria olivieri.

Hmmm.... superficially like the Hannonia ;).... can you tell us more about these bulbs, Alberto, please?

If you look at the stamens you can see that in Vagaria there is the pancratoid element: a pseudocorona done with the basal part of the stamens. Vagaria olivieri is from Marocco. It si winter growing with very little water; absolutely no water in summer.

Here is vagaria olivieri in the wild, in Morocco, near the ocean.
It was flowering 1 week ago, and you can see on the same plant : flowers, green seed pod and mature seeds !
It blooms very close to the ground... and to the scorpions :(

Mine bloomed in Mid summer, when do they usually bloom?
-
October to november in the wild.

Interesting genus that I've never heard of before. Cute little thing by the look of it. Winter water, dry summer, small flower and unusual...... sounds like half my garden. ;D ;D
