Had not even heard of it but have just bought seed of the autumn mandrake from http://www.rareplants.eu/ (http://www.rareplants.eu/) so it might be worth you contacting them to ask.
(I was impressed with the company - friendly response, fast delivery and generous quantities of seed with a 'freeby' packet included)

Gail this is my plant of M officinalis fruiting one year. The fruit rarely ripens because the pods are eaten by slugs as they develop.

They are amazing fruits. I saw the autumn form flowering in Syracuse, Sicily in October '14 amongst Narcissus serotinus (?) and have been wanting to try it so was pleased to get seed.

According to the Pacific Bulb Society it is best in moist shade? Is that your experience? (Most advice on google seems to come via Hogwarts!)

Mine too. Maybe we should straw them like, well strawberries. Lots of fruit; first signs of ripening and they all go.

my autumnalis are in pots in the greenhouse to keep them dry in summer. I live in a high rainfall area (understatement!!) I seem to remember from 17 years ago that when i found them they were on a sunbaked hillside.
The spring flowering officinalis is in the garden where it gets a lot of sun if it ever shines. Both die down completely in the summer.
