Does anyone have some experience in sowing them?
Do you clean the seeds and remove the orange flesh?
Do they need vernalization?
When do you see the first sign of germination?
-
They grow like weeds here!
-
I 've never sown it, as John I expect, because they resow them so easily...
-
The ordinary ones self-sow like weeds in my garden, too, but the white-fruited one didn´t germinate. Does anyone grow a form with clean yellow or blue flowers? Or the variegated form which flowers freely?

I grow one called 'Picos Yellow', it's quite floriferous & a good, clear colour...

This sounds very promising! Is this selection propagated by division or seed? In Germany I once bought ´Citrina´from a nurseryman, but it flowered the usual muddy colour of the species.
-
There are lots of colour variants in the flowers - see http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=10051.60 (http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=10051.60)

Thank You for that link, John, You really grow an impressing range of colour variants! In Germany, none are offered at the moment, although, according to Fritz Köhlein´s book ´Iris´, there must have been a variety of colours available mor than 30 years ago.
My variegated Iris foetidissima never flowered for me, but for friends, who received a piece of it. It was a nice surprise when they told me about it and were kind enough to share their picture.

This one is propagated by division, I had it from Snowdrop People...

Well, I know of a German snowdropman who grows it, too, but he may offer only seedlings.
-
