Hi
Our daffodil season is well and truly under way now despite the fact it is our coldest winter in 33 years. Lots of minus 6 degrees and lots of severe frosts. It has been our driest winter in 40 years so we have had to do some watering here. Luckily some areas are watered automatically by our two recycling systems. We have just installed another water tank so we now have two rather empty water tanks!

Hi
A few more photos. As these are winter flowering it is unlikely they will ever leave the farm.

Hi
The last of my photos for the evening. The romieuxii seedling is very nice. The forecast is for minus 7 in the morning. I still have seed to plant out but I will have to leave that until the frost has thawed.

Ah well, it'll pay off in the end, Graham. Just as well to be prepared!
-
Some nice daffs there Graham!

Don't know why I haven't used N.viridiflorus more , but here is my first flowering seedling from it.

Very smart it is, too.

Hi Paul,
what did you use for the other parent? Which was the pod parent?
Here are a few more daffs in our garden:
Narcissus muņozii garmediaefro seed from Rafa in 2008;
Narcissus KB-M-32-2017 (1-YY)
Narcissus KB-M-12 YY-1-03
Narcissus seedling ex 'Julia Jane'

G'day Fermi, the parents of my viridiflorus seedling are (Quickstep x fernendesii) x viridiflorus.
Viridiflorus being the pollen donor and of this particular cross, I have another 16 seedlings yet to flower.
This year, I pollinated 37 stems of viridiflorus with Div 3 stored pollen and only 3 seed pods have formed, of which one was harvested yesterday.All flowers were emasculated and pollen stored for a massive attempt this year for further hybrids.
BTW, the pod parent of the above sdl is reputed to be 4N.

Hi
It is raining here - 13.8ml so far so there should be a bit of water in our tanks. It will certainly bring our gardens along and give the daffodils a boost.
Some really nice miniatures flowering but since there is not a show in Winter it is unlikely they will ever leave the farm.

A few more photos of what is flowering now.

Hi
A few more photos.
A smiley showing a person with a beanie and shivering from the cold is required. You know it is cold when the weather reports show it warmer in Dunedin New Zealand!! It has been cold here in Canberra for the last week. The minute it warms up I suspect we will have a sudden increase in blooms.

Probably the smallest trumpet I've ever grown!
Narcissus jacetanus ssp jacetanus [Coll Rafa DD 8-05-07 Alava Egino "Hoya delalace" Espana]

Hi
Fermi, I like your N. jacetanus.

Hi
Fermi, a few small flowers that we have flowering.
-
Narcissus asturiensis ssp vasconicus looks great, it's a very small one?
-
;D
Yann, it is about half the height of the N. asturiensis that we grow. Our best clones have nice overlapping perianths which makes it highly desirable for breeding miniatures for exhibition. Essentially it is a tiny trumpet that is very comparable in form to a standard daffodil. I have posted a photo of a seedling bred from it and it is a superb flower and quite tiny. We have selected another seedling as well that is yet to flower. We are making good progress with our perianths now.

Here are a few daffs in flower in the garden now:

Narcissus 'Viristar';
Narcissus 'Taztep';
Narcissus 'Ianmon';

Lovely to see so many blooms when I'm up to my eyeballs in dormant bulbs!
