Hi Angie ,

I do not believe that your plant is a Yucca ....it could be a Nolina or something similar
So far I know are sometimes Agaves which die after flowering ...but not Yucca or Nolina
Please keep us updatet if you have pics of the flower

Good luck
Hans

Hi Hans

I think you are right it leaves are to thin for a Yucca. I have looked on the same site and I think it is a Agave. I will be so disappointed if it dies as it was one of my sisters favourite plants and she gave it to me just before she died. I think she new her hubby wouldn't be able to look after her plants. The flower spike has grown a lot in couple of days, it's a lovely specimen plant. Will post the flower spike when it opens. Here is another picture of the spike, bit out of focus.

Keep an eye out around the base of the plant. IF it is monocarpic it might well produce offsets before the main crown withers.

Hi Angie ,

If Aaron is right with his Name so I have a bad and a good News for you :

First the bad news ;D ;D
In Internet I have found this :

Do you understand all ?

Now the good news :
This plant will not die after flowering ...it will make more heads !

Have fun
Hans

Hans thanks for the article. Thats good news hopefully the plant will regrow, even though it has spiked me more times than I would like. Will post a picture again. I have a vaulted ceiling in that part of the living room so it has the height to grow.

Thanks Folks  :-*

Yes and it grew to some height. I will email a picture when I return home. I have cut the spike down now so will have to wait and see if the plant dies. My husband said he will be happy if the plant goes to plant heaven as he fed up getting spiked as he passes it by.
