Hello,
does anyone know where I can buy seed of Lilium Majoense and or
Lilium Primulinum any Variety,I have been trying for a few years to
buy these seed with no luck so far.I am a member of the R.H.S.lily group
but never see any of these seeds listed in the seed ex.

majoense & primulinum do appear from time to time on the seed lists. Best to maximize your chances by looking at the ELG & NALS lists as well John - NALS species list is smaller than the RHS, but does throw up the occasional rarity for example.

I was a member of NALS for a few years but found that the majority of the time I wasn't getting the seed that I ordered
something entirley different so I dropped out of NALS.
What is the other club ELG that you refer to Im'e not sure that I know that one.

For Species lily seed your best bet is the RHS LG

John , I will be able to send you a smallish bulb of Lilium primulinum ssp. primulinum later on . My plants are in bud at the moment ,it is my last lilum species to flower -early April . Please let me have your postal address .

looking at the last 5 RHS LG seed lists i see
Lilium Primulinum donated by Richard Hyde in 2007/08
Lilium Majoense (syn L. primulinum var. ochraceum)
2007/08 by 4 donors
2008/09 by Boucher and Howland,
2009/10 by Kerry and MacDonald
L. primulinum var. ochraceum
2012/10 by Mac Donald
maybe you could contact some of these donors and see if they have any seed. or have a proxy at one of the RHS LG bulb aucitons.
Better yet if you are in Tasmania you can try Rod Barwick.
On the topic of L. primulinum, what is the attached lily purchased in china as L. poilanei but someone told me it looked like L. primulinum

It is true that these 2 sp are not the most common in seed lists,
However, Lilium Majoense and L. primulinum var. ochraceum are not the same plant, they are 2 quite different sp. If anything, primulinum ochraceum is closer to poilanei...so primulinum ochraceum is NOT a synonym for majoense, so they must have made a mistake in that list...
my majoense did not set any seed last year, and I lost my only surviving bulb which rotted over summer.
I saw the l primulinums in full bloom in 2007 in Richard Hyde's greenhouse, from which his donated seed came. They where some of the most beautifull nd healthiest primulinums I had ever seen, almost 2 meters tall....But sadly he also lost quite a few of his plants, and by 2009, he had none left...
However, one of Richard's dutch colleages is now growing lilium majoense in tissue culture, with the aim of getting a virus free resistant stock in a few years, which is good news.
This autumn, with some luck, i may have some lilium primulinum bulbs, it depends if they flower this year to confirm their ID. But its not an easy lily to keep going....
the lilium in the picture half opened looks like majoense, it could be a majoense without the purple markings.....or an unspotted primulinum (the type sp primulinum is cream yellow, almost white and unspotted....) poilanei looks more like primulinum burmanicum, with a purple centre and soft or deep yellow edges...

Rod Barwick no longer sells any Liliums at all, and because of our very strict (almost ridiculous) quarantine laws we can't
import any bulbs into the State of Tasmania, so I have to rely on obtaining seed if I wish to grow anything other than the
usual shop bought Lilium Bulbs, I agree with Pontus your Lilium does look like and could be either Primulinum var. Ochraceum
or Poilanei without the spots and purple markings.As for the R.H.S. seed lists I have only been a member since 2010 and I have
missed out on the seed ex when they have been listed.If you purchased your bulb from Canursery in China it is almost certainly
Poilanei as Yijia at the nursery has not had Majoense for sale.

Yes John my green lily came from Yijia. Mine all looked the same but others from Yijia that I passed one (smaller bulbs) bloomed with a stronger red or purple ring and that was the start of the identity questioning. I should have kept the smaller bulbs!

I have pollinated L primulinum var ochracea. Waiting to see if it sets seed
