Dunblane Early Bulb Day- 2013

The  main SRGC season gets up to speed in 2013 with: DUNBLANE EARLY DWARF BULB DISPLAY

16th February 10.00 am to 4.00 pm

VENUE: Victoria Hall, Stirling Rd, Dunblane, Perthshire
LOCATION: Opposite the railway station.
ENTRIES: To be staged on the day. Queries to the Show Secretary
STAGING: 9.00 - 10.00 am, Saturday of the show
RHS JOINT ROCK GARDEN PLANT COMMITTEE: will meet at 12.00 noon.
Plants for consideration must be registered by 11.00 am.

Chris Brickell VMH, former Director General of Wisley Garden until 1993 is a renowned horticultural author and is editor of the RHS Encyclopaedia of plants and flowers and the RHS Encyclopaedia of gardening. He is an expert on Colchicum. He is one of the world’s most respected plantsmen and member of the ‘Joint Rock Garden Plant Committee’.

John Amand is well known to Early Bulb regulars as owner of the prestigious bulb firm Jacques Amand International, a major supplier of bulbs including well-established favourites as well as the rare and unusual. John and his sister Nesta’s exhibits regularly win Gold Medals at flower shows :- Philadelphia, Chelsea, RHS shows, BBC gardener’s World, Harrogate and Gardening Scotland. He is an authority on bulbs and woodland plants. He attends our Early Bulb Show and Discussion Weekends every year.

Margaret Thorne and husband David are members of the SRGC Borders Group who have travelled widely in Turkey, Europe and Asia loking at and photographing plants and bulbs. They have led many mountain flower holidays including last year’s SRGC trip to Turkey. Margaret is a plantswoman who travels to find exquisite treasures.

Members are invited to contribute to the day by bringing as many pans of dwarf bulbs and early flowering alpine plants as possible.
Space will be available for cut flowers of plants which members do not want to disturb in the garden. Please bring your own vases for cut flowers.

Every contribution increases the value of the display for others.
Please bring as many pans of bulbs and alpines as possible.
Plants will be grouped into `classes' on the morning between 9 am and 10 am.
The usual rule of one pan per class per exhibitor will be waived. No points will be awarded.
Members may also stage small exhibits comprising several exhibits to show variation in species etc.
Contributions are invited to the 50:50 plant sale and raffle, which will be held to cover expenses.
Members are asked to help with the teas and plant stall as this day is organised by the Bulb Group rather than a local group.
The Bulb Group’s activities benefit all members.
