Czech RG Meeting in October 2012

Just received from Vojtech Holubec :  this information on the traditional Czech RG Meeting in October, organized as usual by Petr Antonin.

This looks to be a busy and very pleasant, weekend!

A reminder about the Czech Rock Garden Club Autumn Meeting: The likes of Rudi Weiss have reported favourably on these meetings in the Forum in previous years.

Place:  Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Sporthotel – Bohemia

This is the seventeenth informal meeting of rock-gardeners.
The programme includes a lecture/slide marathon, visit to local gardens and trip to Labská louka (Elbe River spring) Krkonoše (Giant Mts.) on Saturday morning.  The Krkonoše Mts. National Park (KRNAP) is famous for its glacial relic vegetation.

Programme/announced speakers
The organisers present an invited speaker from England, UK:

John Richards :  1. Asiatic Primulas

John is a world expert on the genus Primula, he is an author of famous monograph Primula and author of many research papers. He is a former President of the AGS and has been awarded   the Lyttel Trophy by the AGS.

The lecture is partly sponsored by AGS.

2. Greek Peloponese – John's second lecture

The next speakers are:

Josef Jurášek and Vojtěch Holubec – Spring  Turkey

Zdeněk Řeháček –2012 travels with RGCP,

Jiří Novák – New Saxifrages

Cedrik Haškovec – Colour forms of Gentiana asclepiadea in Krkonoše Mts.

Vlastimil Pilous – Plants from my rock garden and mountains

Robert Roth – Rock garden in Slovakia

Zdeněk Zvolánek – Alpines in Canada

Vojtěch Holubec – plants in the Far East: Sakhalin and Kamchatka

Lectures will be in Czech, translation is available to foreign participants.

The price: 2.000 CZK includes accommodation, transportation and a board: foreign participants will pay a bit more to support translation. Payment after arrival.

Departure by bus from Prague: Na Florenci Str., near metro B station, opposite to Masaryk Train Station at 3:30 p.m.

Soon be time for this event- just looking again at the list of speakers and thinking what an excellent line-up it is.... 8)
