A Winter Visit to Cloudehill

A while ago Leslie posted pics she'd taken when she visited Australia.
This is one of the gardens she went to, which we visited on the weekend. I thought forumists might like a look at the garden in the Winter.

One of the features of the Winter Garden is of course, Hellebores!
So I took a few pics of these as well!

I think that Jeremy, the owner, had always wanted an English style garden with double herbaceous borders, etc, etc and has achieved it very nicely (after many years of hard work!) here in the Dandenongs. He was previously a wheat farmer in Western Australia, if my memory serves me correctly.

Nice photographs. Cloudhill seems to be a very nice garden, interest in winter as well as summer.

The clematis cirrhosa seems particularly nice.

Do you know which of the cirrhosas that is?  Looks a bit different to all of mine which is why I ask.  Maybe there is another one I "need" to collect!  ;D

Fermi,

Definitely is a cirrhosa, no doubt there to me.  Was just wondering which variety it was.  I have the basic species, 'Freckles', Lansdowne Jem' (spelling?), 'Wisley Cream' and var balearica but your pic doesn't look "quite" like any of them.  Very nice, whichever it is.  I really like the cirrhosas as they flower during winter (in fact one of them flowered for me for 15 months straight at one point) as does nepalensis which is just fantastic at this time of year.  The honey eaters just love em!!
