lilium seed
« on: March 12, 2010, 12:05:50 AM »
Hello,to everyone out there from Tasmania, Australia.
This is my first time using the forum so I hope that I am doing it right.
I have been trying for quite a long time now to buy some seed of lilium primulinum and lilium primulinum burmanicum.
I have tried the R.H.S.,and a few web sites that I found but so far no luck.
If anyone has some to sell or knows where I may be able to purchase them I would be forever gratefull
My email address is bartush@iprimus.com.au best regards John Bartush.

Hello John, welcome to the Forum.
This commercial seed house carries that seed I think:

I can import seed here but not bulbs.any suggestions would be appreciated.

John,

Neither Sims (http://www.lilyseeds.com/), nor Francom (http://lilyseed.com/) seem to be offering seed this year, but you should certainly keep an eye on their sites in future. You could try Ray McNamara (http://www.sparrasnest.com/) here in Tassie, but this would be hybrid seed. Joe Halinar (http://www.cascadebulbandseed.com/) offers a few species seed - but not things like primulinum. You could also try NALS (http://www.lilies.org/) - their online list is open to all once the members distribution is over. Finally, you might think of trying the Archibalds (Jim & Jenny Archibald, 'Bryn Collen', Ffostrasol, Llandysul, SA44 5SB, Wales, UK). Although their website is no longer active, their paper lists offer a large range of species seed.

Rob Hello,
Thanks for your help,It's like you say neither lillyseed.com or rainbow have had seed for two years now I think they are both involved with nals now and all their seeds go through nals.I have bought seed from nals before.and I will write off to the Welsh adress that you gave me and see if I can get a list sent to me from them.Marcus Harvey and Rod Barwick from down in Hobart normally have a good selection also.Once again thank you.Regards Tasmanian Taffy.

The RHS lily group has a different seed list than does RHS. Are you aware of that? All seed lists are, of course, to some extent lotteries but my experience is that I get at least some of those I want.

Hello Gote,
Yes it is the R.H.S.Lily group that I am a member off,and your quite correct, I too get most of the seed that I order, but they have not listed the two that I have been trying hard to get for some time which are, Lilium primulinum and Lilium primulinum Burmanicum.I now have a few seedlings of Primulinum thanks to forum member Otto in Australia, but I would still like to buy some seed of both species.
Best wishes,Tasmanian Taffy.
