Hardy Geraniums from seed
« on: April 03, 2007, 09:09:11 PM »
On Sunday I 'sowed' some special Geranium seeds on damp kitchen towel and placed them in plastic bags which were then placed in the airing cupboard. Just had a nosey and they are germinating especially G. farreri that I was told not to waste time on because seed doesnt germinate. I have 100% germination with c40 seeds. Now they have to go in the fridge to stop growth until I get home from work tomorrow. I dont want the roots to grow into the paper

Geranium farreri germinates perfectly well for me, both sown in a pot and self sown in its raised bed. Fresh seed of course, but my original was from AGS seed so at least 6 months old.

If the roots grow into the paper Mark, just plant that too. It will soon break down.

my seeds are from last summer and have been sitting here on the computer desk in the seeds 2007 envelope. Did your seeds ever arrive? My plant has died but I can get seeds for you this year

What seeds are we talking about Mark? You mentioned Clematis columbiana tenuifolia `Ylva' at one stage.
