Dwarf pines.
« on: October 21, 2009, 06:54:55 PM »
I've got spare seed of:
Pinus mugo var. pumilio (Swiss Mountain Pine)
Pinus pumila (Japanese Stone Pine)
Both suitable for rock gardens/troughs/pots.

I've got some seed of some larger pines too, if that's of interest.

I've always wanted to grow a little stand of the Scots pine, Pinus sylvestris, perhaps half a dozen. We have the space here. I brought home some seeds from Scotland in 1981 but had 1/8 of an acre at that time, so gave them to a North Island friend who had several acres, a big, farm garden. Now I find that for heaven knows what reason, it is illegal to bring Scots pines from the North Island, to the South.:'(

Do we have another conifer thread? If not I may put two pics here, one a Picea and the other a Cryptomeria.
