Coelogyne into winter rest?
« on: September 24, 2009, 10:54:56 AM »
I notice that my Coelogynes are much later in the ripening of the pseudobulbs than Pleione. At this moment I only see a small thickening under the leaves in all my cold species (cristata/fimbricata/ochracea). Should I keep on watering and giving fertilizer? What temperatures are the best for the coming weeks?

Thanks,

Hans

Hi Hans
I keep watering and feeding mine in the greenhouse with  the other cool growing orchids (reduced watering now) untill the temperature starts to drop below about 6 deg c . Then move them indoors and keep above 8 deg c for the winter ,with minimal watering.

Thanks Eric. I'll treat them the same way. I see that the pseudobulbs are developping now. Apparently later ripening than Pleione...
