Only 27 Years to Flower
« on: April 18, 2009, 11:03:13 PM »
Margaret Glynn bought this Rhododendron 27 years ago when she moved to her current house. Every year since I've known her she points out the plant and says that good buds but they always turn out to be growth buds. This year was different. It actually flowered!

Does anyone know it? It's about 12 feet tall and not scented

When the swifts arrive empty the green house

Mark - Could be a rex of rex ssp. fictolacteum; or a hybrid of either.  Hard to say from the photos and leaves seem a bit small but it is growing in full sun. Compare with this rexTJ fromJ. Birck  - fades to white.
