David many thanks for the kind words - I enjoyed talking to a large and enthusiastic group making the long trip worth while.

It was really nice to meet you face to face and not through a computer screen and as is the tradition when forumists get together a picture is below along with two of the old fossils I found.

Although there is controversy surrounding chained sled dogs meeting up with polar bears....these pictures by Norbert Rosing taken near Churchill, Manitoba (Hudson's Bay) certainly warm the heart.

Obviously the bear had a full belly at the time.

and, back to the start of this thread....the sigh of post-American-election-relief could be almost audibly heard across Canada on November 4th.

Derek

You got that one in before me Derek. I was going to ask Ian, who did he say the old fossil he is with was? ;D

Great to see you again Ian, as always, and a real live life-size David to boot! MUCH better-looking than in the little pic to the left. ;D

Kristl, those lovely shots of the bear and his new chum are some of the best I've ever seen on the whole Forum (that above excepted, of course ;)). The bear seems to be begging to have his tummy tickled.

I just assumed that bears were fussy and wouldn't eat at that chain?   ::)

Ellie was fascinated with the ammonite but not so keen on the two old fossils ;D

Lesley, you are obviously a lady with exceptional taste. I showed Maureen your comments and the response was "but she doesn't see you first thing in a morning" ::)

Yemen, what a country ... Haraz mountains, Socotra, Sana'a, Hadramaut, the empty quarter.... a country of stunning, mind altering beauty...and the friendliest of people.

Forgive me, Frazer, but this seems a little overzealous, even for a very keen gardener... what sort of trees are these cossetted specimens? ?  ::) ???
