Crocus scepusiensis seeds available.
« on: July 03, 2008, 09:35:26 PM »
Hi everyone,
I have some seeds to share with you. Who wants some Cropcus scepusiensis seeds? I do not know how many I will send to each person, but I think that it will be enough. I think I will be able to send 7 packets. If there will be more people interested, than I will think about it. Please, write here who is interested and than send me your address by PM.
Best regards,
Chris Ciesielski

I hope to have seeds of more interesting species in future.

A short note to happy owners of these seeds. This species need to have lime in the soil otherwise it will have poor colours if not even won't flower. That is my experience with it.

Krysztof,

I take it I am too late now?  I only just caught up with this thread.  Maybe next time?
Cheers.

Paul, as I count you are the fifth person, and I have 7 packets for sure. I will have more but I do not know what amount of seeds I can give so everyone will be happy. I must take out them today and put into packets.

Please no one hesitate to ask for the seeds. I will try to do so everyone will get some.

I made 11 packets!

To add to the above, Kew regards C. scepusiensis as a synonym for C. Vernus subs. Vernus.

I read, that Crocus scepusiensis is a form of Crocus vernus. Like in Italy is form called C. neapolitanus or other form, Crocus heuffelianus. C. neapolitanus is much different in colours from C. scepusiensis and calling them just Crocus vernus isn't right. Maybe it is only my opinion, but C. neapolitanus with its one colour is less attractive than C. scepusiensis and C. heuffelianus, which have dark blotch at the tip of the petals.

The correct botanical name (today!) should be:
Crocus vernus ssp heuffelianus forma scepusiensis.
