4TH DAVID BOYD EVENT: INVEREWE ROCK GARDEN PROJECT
WEDNESDAY 4 - MONDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2019 INVEREWE GARDEN, POOLWE, WESTER ROSS

The David Boyd Events are intended to reach out taking our enthusiasm and expertise on Rock Gardening to remote areas as well as cooperating with other organisations and the Inverewe Rock Garden Project does that. This is a different kind of David Boyd Event where the SRGC is working with the garden staff of the National Trust for Scotland Inverewe Garden to renovate part of its rock garden in the crevice style.

The SRGC are bringing two world renowned experts on creating crevice gardens to lead the construction. Paul Spriggs from Vancouver Island, Canada, and Zdeněk Zvolánek from the Czech Republic. The SRGC team will be on site from Wednesday 4 September until Monday 9 September with the construction work starting on Thursday 5 September. During the construction there will be the opportunity to demonstrate and explain the methods and reasons behind this style of garden.

Subject to the weather a demonstration of landscaping in troughs and containers will take place near the rock garden at 2pm on Friday 6 and again on Saturday 7 September.

In addition to the construction work all are invited to attend two talks which will be held in the Inverewe Garden Café:
7pm Friday 6 September  - Rock Gardening in Troughs and Containers – Ian Young
7pm Saturday 7 September - Crevice Gardens - Paul Spriggs

Located in the magnificent scenery of the West Coast Inverewe Garden is one of Scotland’s most iconic and beautiful gardens well worth visiting at any time.
There is a range of accommodation available in the area including hotels, B&B and camp sites for anyone thinking of visiting or attending the talks.
