A group of delegates joined a short walk up Glensax on Saturday morning.  Glensax is a quite valley to the South of Peebles surrounded by a wonderful horseshoe of hills.  If the delegates had had 6 hours to spare they could have walked the horseshoe!  Maybe another time.

I wasn't able to attend the weekend but uplifted  my plants  this afternoon and took some show snaps. It was a very nice show albeit  with rather difficult access on an upper floor but several members  were  on hand  to help shift pots. Thanks to Mike Dale, John Mitchell, Elspeth & Struan and treasurer Richard  for help with mine.
No plant  was quite outstanding  enough for a Forrest medal but two displays of  holiday photos were exceptional  and my two snaps in no way do them justice. The  Drakensbergs  by David Livermore won from    another  superb  set of  European pictures the McCaugheys mounted  -judging these must have been very difficult.
The Reivers  trophy for a photo of a Scottish native  plant was easily won by Matt Topsfield's lesser butterfly orchid from my snap of a field of red poppies.
By bringing  most plants  I managed to retain the Mary Bowe trophy. Show secretary Dave Millward's prize cards are beautifully written.

I also managed to win the Logan Home mini garden award, the Mowat conifer trophy with Pinus mugo Mops Midget  and the Peel Cup for three gentians with G sino-ornata, G Blue Silk and G Strathmore.
David & Stella Rankin took the East Lothian trophy for class 3 three pans  with the  middle three Primulas: P simensis, capitata & mairei.

in section  2 Mala Janes won the  East Lothian cup for best plant with her Petrocosmea iodiodes aff. There were several nice plants in section 2 which is always encouraging.
