Foggy Peak, Canterbury, New Zealand
« on: November 13, 2015, 09:56:04 AM »
Feels like forever since I last got into the mountains but a fine Canterbury anniversary day provided the opportunity for some high speed botanising.  I was allowed 3 hours to get from porters pass to pick up at the road at dry creek, 8 km with 900m up and back down on loose scree most the way.  Ranunculus haastii was what I was hoping to find and I did.  Also some nice chionohebe pulvinaris and raoulia mamalaris.

Super plants (and photos) Hamish. This day out must have done your spirit a power of good after the weather we've endured for weeks now. Hope you'll show more such plants soon.

Hi Hamish,

Great to see your photos from Foggy Peak. I am getting itchy feet. In the meantime I am occupied photographing weeds for the Otago Peninsula Biodiversity Project. It is getting a bit tedious -----

Hope you're seeing great things in the mountains this summer as well, Hamish.
