Picea abies Wichtel
« on: June 06, 2016, 08:38:20 PM »
Dave Riley exhibited this beautiful tiny Picea ( apparently only grows 3mm a year ! ) at AGS Bakewell show on Sunday, apparently Dave got his from a German nursery. Does anyone know of any UK growers?

What a little honey! We can't get ANY really dwarf conifers here, since the very late Jim LeComte left us. :'(

if you can't find a UK based nursery, this German nursery stocks it, but postage is another €22 on top.

Hi David, I have tried Kenwith but they do not stock it. Neil suggested Horstmann who have a very good range but as he says the postage is a bit prohibitive . I see a host of fabulous miniature/dwarf conifers on the show benches but not many of the alpine nurseries seem to sell them. I would think it might be viable for one of these nurseries to make a wholesale order with one of these continental suppliers as I am sure they would sell here in the UK

Lawrence, you could try Walkers Nursery near Blaxton.  Have had some really amazing dwarf conifers from them in the last year.
They also have a great restaurant & gardens.
