Tübingen Botanical Garden
« on: May 30, 2016, 10:01:05 PM »
Last week we took the chance to visit again this beautiful place, where forumist
Michael Mauser gave us a friendly welcome.
The alpine house was decorated with beautiful plants, but the Dionysias were
already out of flower. A big Daphne jasminea and many other goodies were still at their best.
Among many cactii and other succulents in the desert house the huge fruit of Pachypodium lamerei was quite
impressive.
The entire garden was in full flower and so we spent a wonderful day there.

Good to see Michael safely returned from his Iranian trip - he and Brigitte Fiebig will be speaking on this trip to the 3rd Czech International Conference next May - read more about that here : http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=14036.0    Booking will open soon - be quick or miss out!

Rudi- you seem to have enjoyed  very good weather for your visit - it has been shocking to read of the many  problems with lightning strikes across Europe and flash floods in the last few  days in Germany. Sad to hear of these things.

The flood did no harm to our town, but at Schwaebisch Gmuend, about 40 km from
us the river Rems which also flows through Waiblingen rose more than 3 meter in
a very short time, and damaged a lot. Sadly two men lost their lives in the floods.

Sad news to hear..... it was reported here that three men and a young girl were killed.  The girl by a train as she sheltered in a tunnel from the rain.  :'(

Our entire region is shocked about the chaos and the sad losses of lives
which this thunderstorm left behind.
Nature can be so cruel.
