The white mountain of Saxifraga pubescens 'Snowcap' - which won the Forrest Medal for Cyril Lafong, the magnificent Trillium luteum from Bob Maxwell and one of Stan da Prato's lovely Rhododendrons....

Now section 5. In class 97 for a posy of alpine flowers  the three entries all came from  the Dales grandchildren  who are experienced exhibitors at  the Aberdeen show. Class 96 for a mini garden attracted several entries  from exhibitors of  rather more mature years.

The Welch  Winter Gardens,  named after a former head of Aberdeen parks,  are a remarkable achievement for a local council in these days of spending cuts.
