More of the trophy winners. Mark's  excellent  saxifrage  has already  been well covered. Tommy Anderson shared  the RB Cooke  open section trophy for most points with Don Peace. Tommy also won the AGS medal for 6 small pans. Don had many fine entries  including a Fritillaria crassifolia hybrid  that took the Sandhoe trophy for best plant in a 19 cm pot and  a primula that went forward  for an award  from  the joint rock committee

Local grower Alan Furness, seen with outgoing show secretary Peter Maguire,  won the EB Watson trophy with Callianthemum  farreri. My winning  the Tubbs travelling trophy for Ericaceous plants  with a rhododendron  led to considerable hilarity  and comment about the size of pots and the grower.     Another expert local grower and well known contributor  to these columns  George Young took the AGS medal for 6 large pans.

Many fine entries in sections 2 and 3. The ebullient Lawrence Peet won section 2, the Gordon Harrison cup  and an SRGC bronze medal. David Morris won section 3 and the Cyril Barnes Trophy. Finally the Northumberland cup for a new exhibitor went to Ian Mathewson.

As it was such a good show it's not surprising  that several certificates of merit were awarded. Tommy Anderson received one for his Corydalis glaucescens. Cyril Lafong received one for his hybrid  Tecophilea Storm Cloud. Barry Winter received one for a large pot of Iris bucharica. Don Peace Primula petelotti also had a certificate -it is shown in one of my earlier posts. RBG Edinburgh were given a certificate for a pot of Narcissus bulbocodium which was part of their gold medal display but it was away when I tried take its  photo so some one else will have to show it.
