falconeri x transsilvanica - is it possible?
« on: October 27, 2015, 05:35:17 PM »
Hi

Upcoming spring I'm thinking of testing out a cross between H. falconeri and H. transsilvanica. To me they seem to be quite closely related, but that might of course be totally wrong as it is based on my observations. Are there anyone that have tried this combination or know if it's even possible?

H. falconeri has a chromosome number of 2n=14 (diploid), whereas transsilvanica has 2n=28 (tetraploid). A cross should give triploids then and shouldn't be impossible.

I have not tried though! Maybe this article is of interest for you:
