Daphnes from seeds
« on: December 30, 2006, 02:25:56 PM »
David Shaw kindly sent me some Daphne seeds and I have collected from my mezereum, retusa and unknown growing out of my 'Jacqueline Postill'. My questions are

1. sow now or later? Currently in the fridge
2. Each type in one pot? Or each seed in it's own pot?
3. compost mix
4. How long to germinate?

That was quick -they only went in the post box on Thursday afternoon! I had to ask Mark for his mail address and it came through just as I was shutting my work computer down for the New Year Holiday ( refering to another thread, Monday & Tuesday are public holidays so I took Friday off as well after finishing early on Thursday- public servant speak).

My responses to Mark's questions are :-

1) Sow now
2)Each species to one pot, although with a dozen seeds you might make it two
3)JI seed compost & equal grit as I use this for almost everything
4)Rapid germination, some should appear next spring/summer

Good luck
