Just a dronefly in the tulip flower. It has a shiny body. The Narcissus fly is hairy

Stand out plants in the blog - Trillium ovatum maculosum and the tall yellow Frit  :o

Thank goodness for that, Mark - we thought you'd know for sure. Ian didn't catch the fly.

Those two plants are probably my favourites as well  :D

Thanks for  identifying the fly for me Mark, I knew it was not a bee but was not sure what it was so am relived to learn it is a dronefly.

Luc I think Crocus scardicus would be in all croconuts top 5 a pity it is not easier for most to grow.

Ian, I know it has been said many times before but thanks again for taking the time and effort on the blog, it is appreciated and inspirational; it certainly stimulated my own (modest) bulb collection.
Yemen, what a country ... Haraz mountains, Socotra, Sana'a, Hadramaut, the empty quarter.... a country of stunning, mind altering beauty...and the friendliest of people.

I agree I never miss one. It has certainly spread the "disease" of bulb growing with me. Thanks for all your efforts
