a very fine show indeed ably organised by the local group. Cyril's Forrest was for his Trillium which was part of a very good three pan which won class 2-it also included the Pulsatilla that won the Forrest at Kincardine last Saturday. Don Peace took the RB Cooke Plate for most points in the Open Section as well as the Roger Smith Trophy for 6 pans from seed - many of his fine entries  were bulbs. I was fortunate enough to get a medal for the large 6 pan while Jim Watson took the medal for the small 6 pan.

And I stand corrected Stan.  I thought the trillium was the best plant but people were talking to me and the medal sheet was behind so I thought it must have been awarded to the plant behind the sheet. Mea Culpa.  They were all cracking plants anyway... Gobsmacking...

The Sandhoe Cup for the best plant in a 19cm pot went to George Young for a Fritillaria tubiformis. Ian Kidman took the EG Watson trophy for a rare or difficult plant. In a good Section 2 Tony Stanley won the Gordon Harrison Cup for most first points, Norman  Davies received an SRGC bronze medal. Elizabeth Dodd won the Cyril Barnes Trophy for most first points in section 3. Merit certificates went to Cyril for his Tecophilaea violacea, Fred & Pat Bundy for their Trillium chloropetalum and Peter Hood for Primula Aire Mist .

Your photo of the show hall shows how very nice and spacious it is.
You've had a busy day, Stan, being in two places at once - Caley Show in Edinburgh and  at Hexham  - you'll sleep well tonight!
Margaret Young in Aberdeen, North East Scotland Zone 7 -ish!

A well deserved gold award  went to the local group for a most informative display  on plant hunters- good quality displays  often  feature at  shows in this area and Mala James get the credit for leading the work.

Mala accepted   the award on behalf of the group from SRGC President Carole Bainbridge. Elspeth, Struan and John   mounted a typically floriferous stand from  RBGE which also received an award. No doubt others will have  some close ups of the many fine  plants.

now a quick stroll round the benches starting  with the larger pots - the first snaps  help  explain the confusion  over which plant had won the Forrest medal
