Seeds of wild Paeonia species?
« on: July 13, 2013, 09:06:31 AM »
Does anyone know where I can find seeds of wild collected or true-to-name "ex cult." species of Paeonia? Preferably from Europe or Asia Minor/Caucasus.

Thanks, Hans

What about Vojtech Holubec's seedlist ?

Oddly enough, a message re named  paeony cultivars just arrived - not what you are after Hans, but maybe of interest to others.

Maggi, I have ordered from the 2012 Holubec list but maybe his 2013 list has new ones. I do not if it is out yet? The same for the Vickery and the Pavelka lists

I checked the Chinese and it indeed looks like a good site for cultivar/hybrid lovers. But I have not found any botanical species.

Furthermore, I should have mentioned that Bjorn Malkmus-Hussein (www.rareplants.de) offers seeds of botanical species but I already grow many of them.

Thanks Gail, but I do check Phedar regularily and I ordered some good seeds a few years ago when they had a much larger offer of species. At thr moment they offer only two species of unkown provenance...

Maybe Josef Halda would be a good source but I can't find a website of email of him.

Not all the Halda seed we've had of various things has been true, though.  :'(

There are also  other Czechs you you try , like Pavelka , as you say - euroseeds@tiscali.cz

and Jurasek  - jurasekalpines@atlas.cz  http://zahradnictvi-svjan.cz/semenacz.html

K.Vickery's seed list isn't out yet  I don't think.

My P. emodi plant came from a Chris Chadwell seed collection. He normally sells seed on a share basis but it may be worth emailing him to ask if you could have 'peony only' share of his next trip;
