Caliphruria 2013

This is Caliphruria korsakoffii from Peru, South America.  This is a dwarf cousin of Eucharis.



They spend the winter in the Clivia greenhouse, but are not left 100% dry.  In summer, they do best outdoors in the lath house under a misting system.

We have seen this plant only occasionally in the forum, Jim. Is it scented?

Very nice Jim, this winter, I placed the pots in a greenhouse to + 6 c. and I lost the plant

This and the other Eucharises do extremely well as indoor plants as they tolerate low light levels with no problems.

I have lost some plants in the Clivia greenhouse at +7°C in the winter.  I think I should move them to another greenhouse with minimum 55°F/+13°C in winter.   One Caliphruria in the warmer one did better.

I don’t know whether these are fragrant or not – 75+ years of allergies and 40 years working in chemistry laboratories pretty much wrecked my sense of smell!

I think all my plants may be one clone, as I have never been able to set any seed on my Caliphruria.
