I am looking for the autumn flowering clone of Anemone coronaria. Can anyone help?

No, I'm not at all sure it is in cultivation. It seems to be very local on the Mani Peninsula, Greece, where I photographed it a couple of years ago.

Poul , I saw them several times. But I thought always, it`s a question of weather?!?!

We are just back from Crete and in the South East we found some flowering Anemone coronaria. I was confused ... ,the first time I see them flowering that time !
Have the same question as Hagen : is this the normal form that is just pushed by some extraordinary weatherconditions or is this a autumn flowering coronaria ?
In some books we can read that normal flowering time is between january and april but that in some years they even start in october ...

I suppose it is at least partly inherited since the population on the NW Mani Peninsula is known to flower in autumn - I think it is one of those places that is normally included in Green Tours autumn trips to the Peloponnese. I will include some pics, there are some more at http://keesjan.smugmug.com/Botanical-trips/Europe/Greece-Peloponnese-and-Attica/ . By the way, I did not see any other colour forms at that time.
None the less I suppose that when you look at the species a a whole it is not a case of autumn and spring flowering forms, since A. coronaria is quite well known as a winter flowering species I think so there is a continuum (as in Narcissus tazetta for instance), but it would be interesting to know if there is a continuum within populations or just in the species as a whole.
I used to think of it as spring flowering species, probably because that most of us probably see it around April. But that's just because that is when we typically go on our plant-hunting trips. The first time I found this species was in April at the Omalos plateau, Crete.

I have had Anemone coronaria flowering throughout the winter during a very mild winter. That were A. coronaria cv. 'Mr Fokker' and A. coronaria cv. 'Hollandia'. Not all of the patch started to flower so early, others only started in spring.
Next season all were in their normal cycle and started flowering in spring. So maybe you must be looking for a mild winter instead of a specific strain :)
But of course it might be that one strain is more susceptible to this effect than the other.

My experience with Anemone coronaria is that the first flowering can be timed from spring to autumn depending upon when the tubers are planted. Planted in late spring gives flowers in the autumn. But next year the ones I have tried always flowers in spring.
However Roy Leeds claims in his book 'Autumn bulbs' that there is a clone that regular flowers in the autumn. From the forum I have also heard of autumn flowering A. coronaria in Bulgaria.

The first time that I saw Anemone coronaria in the autumn was above Leonidi in the Peloponnese, it was the first week in November and in flower alongside Cyclamen graecum, there were a few different colours but predominatly pink.

A. pavonina is in bud here & A. coronaria (a trade form) flowered 4-5 weeks ago. I assume this is just the peculiar season.

I saw it just below Delphi in the roadside dirt the last week in October
7th Dec I should have also said I have had one out in the greenhouse since mid October from Langada in the Peloponnese

I once had a white form, raised from seed collected in Cyprus, which flowered in November regularly. At least until I killed it..
