My first Acis:
1. Acis rosea, 3 year old seedlings flowering the first time.
Acis autumnalis has just shown the first flower buds in the open garden.

Nice to see Acis rosea - one I've had for a few years but am yet to flower :(
Springtime is nearly here and Acis tingitana has bulked up over the past 8 years to a reasonable clump,
[attachthumb=1]
but difficult to photograph against the sun!
cheers

My only Acis (so far).
I bought this over 20 years ago.

Fermi,
I find that tingitana is a brilliant grower for me as well (first flowers have opened this week in pots), but I find that rosea flowers for me every year in it's pot, but rarely multiplies. The flowers are much subtler than autumnalis, and could easily be missed if you aren't watching for them. ::)

Acis autumnalis, Prospero autumnale and Colchicum montanum in my garden today.

Acis autumnalis v.oporantha which I have read no longer merits its varietal status. :(
It looks different to the straight species to me but what do I know.

One flowers naked and the other flowers with leaves present. Otherwise it is the same species.

Acis autumnalis var. oporantha flowers before the leaves.
This PBS page also claims another difference.... http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/acis
Lesley asked the same question in 2010 ;) http://www.srgc.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=5843.150

I thought that there was a difference in the spathe too, but I don't remember what.
