Fantastic plant Heinie. I try to grow Amaryllis spp and hybrids, but don't do very well with flowering them. Perhaps Natal isn't the best climate to grow them, however I have seen some good displays in Durban which is even hotter and more humid than here.

This is one of mine that does flower from time to time - do you think of it as a hybrid? The previous owner swears it is a species - I beg to differ. I've had it for years...   ???

Rogan,

Like you I do not believe it is a specie. Mine is definately a Hybrid between Amarillys Belladonna and Crinum macowanii. I purchased it from Nestor White in the USA who apparently have over 375 Crinums and Hybrids.
