Title: Muscari paradoxa
Post by: shelagh on May 10, 2007, 07:38:36 PM
Hi there,

On a recent visit to Harlow Carr in Yorkshire  I saw wonderful pots of Muscari paradoxa in their newly revamped Alpine house, trouble is no-one seems to be selling it.  If anyone has any spare bulbs I'll be happy to come to some arrangement.

Hello, Shelagh,
Have you tried searching for it as Bellevallia paradoxa ? I think it is  a synonym.

I got some from Lyn Bezzant at a local meeting as part of the fund raising project from the SRGC Stirling Group. She had bought a variety of bulbs and corms and packaged them into £1 lots, so I suspect it is available commercially. Does it need alpine house treatment?

It needs a moist soil in spring and is drought tolerant in summer.......so, given the rain in Dunblane that you complain of, Anthony, perhaps a summer cover is called for!! ;) ::)
