That's really interesting Alessandro. Presumably it is Pardanthopsis dichotoma (syn Iris dichotoma) x Belamcanda chinensis?

And as Pardanthopsis dichotoma is now rechristened Iris dichotoma and Belamcanda chinensis is now rechristened Iris domestica what happens to the name  x Pardancantha norrissii    - (previously cross generic, but not any longer)

How about Iris x dichotomestica?  ;)  Has a nice flow to it.  Or Iris x domestichotoma as the alternative?  ;D

Alessandro,

I have orange flowered forms (seedlings I grew from a seed exchange) that are supposed to be this.  I have an old spotted orange but I have never worked out whether it is one of the hybrids or one of the parents.

If my understanding of the ICBN is accurate (do not place any bets on this, however!), the hybrid will be Iris × norrissii as that is the earliest specific epithet for the taxon.

If perchance there is an older published use of "Iris norrissii", hybrid or otherwise, valid or not, then norrissii is already taken in the genus Iris and this hybrid would seem to be nameless in that case.

Incidentally, this hybrid was introduced by the Park Seed Company of South Carolina 30-35 years ago.
