Title: 2008 re-potting

Just completed re-potting my Crocus collection and had a nice surprise. An 11cm pot of 5 C. kotschyanus kotschyanus planted last year, provided me with 19 flowering sized corms and one 'tiddler'. Is this a normal kind of growth rate for kotschyanus? Other species seem to have been steady but not spectacular.

It's usually vigorous David but that does seem excessive! :) Depends how many were in the pot to start with. Many crocuses will double or treble their corm numbers in a season.

Is it time to start repotting bulbs then or was this an exception?

Chris, yes, you should be repotting bulbs now and keeping them dry till 1st September when Autumn Storm begins!  See Ian's Bulb Log for more!!
Many bulbs such as Crocus scardicus and some narcissus start very early into new root growth, so repotting sooner rather than later is important.

Thanks Maggi  :-\, thought I had another month before I underwent this operation.  If it ever stops raining, I'll get a start.  Must read the bulb log more ...
