Hello, the germinating Tulipa confusa really confuses me ;-)
I found the name as a synonym for different species. Can someone here - simply - explain the taxonomic status?
The seed comes from V. Pilous and the origin should be Zaritap, Armenia.
Thank you!
Bernd

Tulipa confusa Gabrieljan [family LILIACEAE] seems to come from Azerbaijan : https://plants.jstor.org/stable/history/10.5555/al.ap.specimen.ere0000824
and is a synonym of Tulipa karabachensis Grossh. : http://www.worldfloraonline.org/taxon/wfo-0000743322
Yes, confused!

Perfect, thanks :-) I "only" have the very nice book by Diana Everett, and that is confusedly listed as a synonym for several. Google then made the mess complete :-(
.... Now just have to wait a few more years to see if the expected plants will also appear ;D
Thank you for the info!

Yes, confused!
Tulipa confusa is growing in South Azerbaijan near the border with Armenia and at the other side of the border in Armenia.
We have to wait for the publication of the monograph written by Sjaak De Groot !

About T. confusa
When we traveled in 2009 in Armenia we meet Dr. Nora Grabrielian. She told me that she made a new description with the name T. confusa as by the new description of T. karabachensis a yellow form of T. florenskyi was used as herbarium species. So the name Karabachensis is not valid.
