Title: Which Polemoniaceae?
Post by: Kees Jan on February 06, 2022, 10:46:12 AM
I photographed this Polemoniaceae in Utah, which seems to be some kind of Leptosiphon spec. Could anyone help me with the ID of this species?

The location is the canyon of the Logan River, between Logan and Garden City in the Wasatch Range. Habitat is limestone cliff at about 1700m.

I asked a friend, who said The plant is either Linanthastrum (Leptosiphon) nuttallii or Leptodactylon pungens.

Thanks for asking Claire, although I don't think it's Linanthastrum nuttallii, which is a plant I know quite well from the wild and which has terminal clusters of 2-5 flowers. I will have a better look at Leptodactylon pungens, it is certainly related, but I'm not sure it quite corresponds to this plant.
